Protect Our Property, Protect Our Parts Program
TACT piloted the first of its kind statewide property identification program in 1993. In October of 1996, after years of research and development, TACT announced the Protect Our Property and Protect our Parts Program; a massive vehicle and personal property identification program designed to aid in the recovery of stolen automobile parts personal items.
How does it work?
Both the Protect Our Property and Protect Our Parts programs were designed at the request and with the help of law enforcement to assist in the recovery of stolen property. TACT's POP program enables citizens to permanently identify their home property as well as those items commonly stolen from their vehicles. The new POP security labels come imprinted with the TACT 800 number an alpha numeric identification number. If removed, leaves behind a traceable, identifiable number when viewed under ultraviolet light. This number is traceable to the owner of the property if it appears in pawn shops or police recovery rooms
What is the cost to participate in the POP program?
The cost is $8.30 for a set of ten (10) security labels. Once the order is received, the owner will be entered into a secure database, maintained by TACT, and available only to law enforcement in the event of property or vehicle recovery or investigation. The owner also receives two (2) window decals warning thieves that their home or auto is protected by the POP security labeling system and an inventory sheet to record those items labeled.
TACT works with hundreds of police and sheriffs departments throughout Texas in a joint effort to encourage participation in Operation Identification. The POP program is one of the many tools citizens can easily use to reduce their chances of being a victim of a property crime.
