The majority of budget gurus advice those in debt to get on a budget as that will solve all their financial problems. It is a fact that budget is an important thing to have. Having a budget means that you watch your spending. The main idea of a budget plan is to avoid spending more than you are making. It is important to address certain principles before the start of the budget process. All these principles are free and they are about attitude.
Principles
Reject Passivity
Passivity can be defined as a mindset, which makes people believe that problems will solve themselves. This thinking makes people believe if they continue doing what they do, they are going to achieve different results. You should note that things or problems never change magically for better. For instance, purchasing a lottery ticket does not mean fixing your debt problems. Thus, there is a need to reject passivity. This means rejecting the notion that since you are into debt, you need to live just like Moses to emerge out of debt. This is a weak mindset that focuses only on the past and not your future. Therefore, reject it and start working hard.
Accept Responsibility
You should look at important details of your debt. You should not look only for reasons but look at the figure. After this accept the responsibility that you are partly or fully, or not responsible. Since you are responsible, you need to start paying it off. Therefore, stop pointing fingers and complaining. You should take the responsibility and develop a plan to emerge out of debt.
Lead Courageously
You need to be courageous for two main reasons: Do not get into more debt, and get rid of debt. Leading involves others. You can involve some of your close friends know of your plans and let them keep appraising your status. Moreover, you can ask them for assistance.
Invest Timelessly
Remember you do not own time at all. However, the wrong notion is that you cannot own anything at all. Remember you cannot go with your wealth upon death, but you can bequeath it to the friends, family, and organizations. If you do not own wealth, you need to ask yourself who owns it. You also need to learn how to handle all that you have accumulated.
Look at yourself as a manager of everything you have but not as the owner. When you treat yourself as a manager and be accountable to what you have, then you will treat all you have with lots of respect.
